A McDonald's customer has divided Aussies after erupting at a fast-food restaurant manager about his 'cold chips and sloppy burger'.

The man paid $32 for his meal at a drive-thru at a Melbourne venue and claimed he had been forced to turn back multiple times because of the disappointing order.

He filmed the moment he confronted a shift manager behind the counter and demanded she give him hot chips.

The manager claimed the chips had already been replaced, igniting a furious response from the customer.

'No, and you've given us hot burgers with cold chips. I paid for hot burgers and hot chips,' he said.

'Have a great night,' she replied.

'You're more than happy to wait here all night if that's what you want to do.'

'No, I want my order. I want what I paid for. I want my chips as well,' the customer said.

The manager again said she had already replaced his food, but he wasn't leaving without fresh chips.

'Give me my chips. Just because you've had a bad day before you came to work, you're not going to take it out on me,' he said.

He pointed out she was not wearing a McDonald's uniform.

'You're not very professional. That's what you wear as a Maccas worker? You wear a jumper like that and you reckon you're the manager?' he said.

The manager then warned the customer that she would call the police.

'You've got a grand total of 10 seconds before I call the cops,' she said.

'Call the cops, for what? I'm recording you,' the customer snapped back.

'You're ripping off my food. You made me get out of my car, you give me cold chips, you give me a sloppy burger with sauce over the top of them.

'Call the cops because I want hot chips that I paid for.'

The McDonalds shift manager called police after a customer demanded fresh, hot chips

The customer claimed he had driven away from the restaurant after he collected his order and was forced to do a U-turn when he realised he had been given cold chips.

'Then I came back and you give me attitude about it. You want a fight over a small chips?' he said.

The manager could then be seen calling the police as the man ranted in the final moments of his video.

'I paid $32 to eat a hot burger and hot chips together, not get my meal in instalment plans,' he said.

'What are they going to arrest me for? Wanting my f***g meal together that I paid for?'

The man claimed the cops arrived but left quickly without incident.

Social media users slammed the McDonald's customer and accused him of being rude.

'People don't go to work to be abused. There is laws against this. She should have rang the police,' one person wrote.

'I feel like you should work a day in that type of job,' another said.

'You should see how hard (it) really is. Abusing minimum wage workers is just sick. You clearly are that bored, you don't have anything better to do.'

Others were on the customer's side and were surprised she didn't replace his chips to mitigate the confrontation.

'I still can't believe this happened and she just didn't replace your food like any other manager would have,' one wrote.

'They have to replace your order or give you a refund. I used to work at Maccas,' another said.

Daily Mail Australia contacted McDonald's for comment and the fast food chain said: 'Our crew immediately offered the customer a replacement and apology. While we understand the customer may have been disappointed with the service, anti-social behaviour is not tolerated in our restaurants.'
